At it's core Shillings is a simple, compact and rules-lite system. But it is also a collection of ideas that include:

• Quick and simple token-based combat
• Room for extension of the system
• Easy for anyone to pick up and play

•  An SRD with super in depth character creation
• Complicated action-based grid-based combat
• An SRD with strict rules
• An SRD that can make campaigns that stretch over years
